Just back from a 3 night xmas stay at this lovely little hotel - right in the Old Town Sqaure, 5 mins from Charles Bridge. A hotel with character - fairy lights, christmas trees, antique furniture/finishes but with mod cons, relaxed breakfast area with full continental breakfast on offer until 10.30am! cheap mini bar (60p most drinks)! warm rooms and plenty of hot water. Fresh towels, toiletries replenished daily and beds made. TV and Jacuzzi! I cannot fault the hotel on price, location, comfort and character (what more can you want) but as with anywhere there was one grumpy/unhelpful staff - dont let that put you off staying here as that could happen anywhere- the other girls were really friendly-and the bottom bedroom could get slightly noisy early in the morning as there was some building work going on outside the hotel - but again this would probably happen in many hotels in the city centre and I would still choose this hotel for all the above reasons. Overall we had a great stay and I'm definately not complaining at L57 per night for 2 people including breakfast! (booked through Travelcook - everything went smoothly and driver even waited an extra hr for us at the airport!) Tip: Great Jazz/Blues bar literally 15 paces round the corner from the back of the hotel playing good live music every night (cheap cocktails/beer, lovely old stone bar) also round the corner again into Tyn Square cosy little cafe called Ebel - friendly staff, tasty drinks (Hot Cherry Griotte-morning pick me up) fantastic! very Bohemian

Just a quick mail to thank you for recommending the Golden Stag Hotel for our stay over the New Year. The hotel was fantastic & in a great location (Not too far to crawl back to in the early hours!!). The staff were fantastic and a credit to the hotel and to Prague. We are planning to return to Prague in the summer and won't hesitate in staying there again.
Thanks to The Sunday Times Travel magazine we booked into this great little unpretentious Hotel, right at the centre of everything. Extra toilet tissue, beds made up and towels changed without having to ask. Everything we requested (politely) was dealt with (politely), and the staff could not have been faulted - lovely people who spoke enough English to help those of us who barely knew how to say 'Thank you' in Czech. The ambience has not been damaged by extensive modernisation, and therein lies the appeal. Breakfasts were a fine start to the day, and there is plenty of space to relax in reception over hot chocolate or mulled wine with cake. If you want to avoid plastic in favour of authentic, choose this hotel.
Terrific location--right near the Old Town square. The room was decent size, and overlooked the courtyard, so we didn't hear street noise (some rooms do face the busy street leading to the square). We did hear the deliveries and the hotel staff--who start work really early--because sound echoes up in the courtyard. There was a little too much heat at night, so we had to leave the windows open. Earplugs helped. (I imagine this room is quite warm in the summer.) The shower was good, plenty of pressure and hot water. The furnishings consisted of two single beds with nightstands; a small wooden table and 2 wooden chairs; a minibar; a tiny wall-mounted televison (with only one English-language channel: CNN); and an armoire. The beds were not comfortable--like lumpy army cots, with flat pillows. The hotel was very clean, and the desk staff spoke enough English for us to manage (tho we asked for extra bed pillows and got extra duvets instead). The hotel claims to have wifi, but we didn't try it. The breakfast was very nice: fruit, eggs, pastries, cereals, yogurts, etc., and the coffee was okay. Overall, it seemed a little pricey, but we had a great time!
A small and charming hotel in a very good location. Just near the center of Prague and at 5 mn of the Charles Bridge. Small and Large rooms but all the sanitaries are new.
The Hotel Golden Stag is in a prime location near the Old Town Square, Municipal House and Powder Tower. The staff was friendly and efficient. All spoke enough English to understand what we wanted. The lobby was nice with a cafe bar. The breakfast was very good. The room was clean but somewhat sparten. The bed felt like an army cot and some of the usual hotel accessories were missine. i.e no place to put your suitecase except the floor, no soap tray in the shower. The street noise was a bit loud at times. My wife and I did not sleep well there. The place is historic built in the 1300s. We were asked to pay in cash and that we could obtain case a few steps from the front door at an ATM. The only reason I am rating this hotel as above average is the outstanding location.
My wife and I stayed here for three nights on our honeymoon. The hotel has an incredible location, nice rooms, helpful staff, a good breakfast, and offered a quiet sleep.
This is a nice oldy worldy hotel ideally situated for the old town area, probally one of the most ideally suited in any city i have visited. The room was vary spacious and pleasent with a good bathroom. The breakfast was more than adequate and would see you right untill late afternoon and was set in a nice dining area.
This is a super little hotel for the money. The rooms are clean and neat with fresh clean bedding. The beds aren't the most comfortable I've ever slept in but absolutely fine. The reception area is very quaint, with lovely staff who were very helpful. Our bedroom was a moderate size (the smallest type possible) and overlooked the small central courtyard. You will inevitably hear some outside noise, but that has to be expected staying in the centre of the tourist area. Get a little further out of town if you want total peace and quiet! The maids came into our room to make the beds etc quite late in the day rather than in the morning, and did a fine job. Breakfast was typical European style - a small selection of pastries, cereal, yoghurts and cheese and meats. There are only about 8 tables in the breakfast room, but I was there last week and didn't have a problem getting a table. The only down side of this hotel is that there is no air-con and it was 33'c outside! All in all, a great little hotel - very quaint and without the creature comforts you may want, but fantastic value for money in an excellent location. I'd go back, and my brother is going back next month for his 3rd time!

What a difference a nce hotel makes! The location just could not be bettered - about 100 paces from the Old Town Square. The hotel has charm, character, fantastic staff and best of all, you feel very much "at home". Rooms good size, bathroom excellent (both spotless), staff extremely pleasant. Breakfast (very good) in the cafe.
Location was fantastic!! And a small hotel with charm, high ceilings, but keep in mind there are a few steps! Room was ok (we had 4 of us sharing) there was plenty of room, but linen could do with improving as the sheets on one bed were clearly too small. One pillow was extremely lumpy as well, but this was replaced. Big room with plenty of light and reasonable sized bathroom. Breakfast had plenty of choice and staff were always helpful. We would stay here again.

Great location and charm, not so great beds and linens! Would love tosay I'd return but simply cannot due to the uncomfortable bed and sheets. Owners should look into upgrading and then the place would beperfect!

just arrived back from 5 day stay at this wonderful city. hotel really central, a few steps from old and new quarters also jewish and lesser quarters.room 11 we stayed in was wonderfully huge bathroom was amazing.little noise at night although it wasn't a great problem. staff not very chatty although helpful if asked any queries.a travel kettle essential as no tea and coffee facilities available. rooms were really warm and clean.biggest drawback being on day of departure you have to vacate rooms at 10.30am,and as beautiful prague is there is only so much you can see drink and eat with temperatures -10 we walked aimlessly and eventually returned to hotel to sit in cold what you call reception waiting for taxi to airport for return evening flight. we did ask at hotel if we could pay to keep room on a bit but this was not possible. it is worth bearing this in mind as there is no lobby or bar to wait.
Just got back from a wonderful 4 night stay at this hotel. Superb location for everything, literally right on the Old Town Square, one minute walk maximum. Rooms very clean, bright, spacious, warm and beds very comfortable. Highly recommended. Will be making a return visit sometime soon. Only one slight criticism but easily rectified - there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room - so take a travel kettle and some cups/tea/coffee etc. There was a mini bar/cooler. However the reception staff who were on duty 24/7 were very good and allowed us to use the staff kitchen facilities. I would definitely say you won't be disappointed if choose to stay at this hotel.

We were very pleased with this hotel. It's a few steps from Old Town Square and within easy walking distance of all other sites. The staff went out of their way to be of assistance - even repairing my electrical adaptor which wouldn't work! The breakfast was excellent, the room spacious, and the bathroom lovely. Highly recommended.
We chose this hotel, because it was in the Old Town and we were only staying a couple of days. The location proved to be excellent. It is within walking distance of Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, the Jewish Quarter, and the Castle. The hotel is quiet and well maintained, the entrance tucked away down a short alleyway, just off Old Town Square. Our room was spacious with double doors, high ceilings and furmished with antique furniture. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. We used transfers from Prague airport and return - the drivers both spoke English and were friendly and infomative - well worth the fare. If you want to explore Prague and to stay in an interesting central hotel, then this is the place to stay.

The room was vary spacious and pleasent with a good bathroom. The breakfast was more than adequate and would see you right untill late afternoon and was set in a nice dining area. Reception staff were very pleasent and helpfull at all times. TV was availlable in the room but is all foreign apart from the news channels. Street noise was only pedestrian and was easily solved by closing the window (certainly quieter than Rome or Berlin) The one thing to bare in mind is this hotel doesnt have air con and was incredibly hot ( just returned 27/7/06) especially at night, although we did have a decent electric fan supplied. Mini bar well stocked but if you like your tea or coffe take a travel kettle. I would recommend this hotel purely on location alone please dont make the mistake of staying in a cheap hotel miles out of town or in Wenceslas square.
This is a lovely hotel. The location is absolutely perfect - one minute from Old Town Square! Our room was enormous with a lovely big bathroom (interestingly, containing its own garden bench for toilet conversations?). The staff were friendly, breakfast was great - and the whole place was very atmospheric. Having said this - i wouldn't have stayed anywhere else. It was a total pleasure. I'd heartily recommend this hotel. I loved staying there.
This hotel, tucked just behind the gothic church on the old town square, is a fabulous place to stay for a holiday in Prague. So centrally located there is no need for any public transport and the staff are absolutely lovely. Despite being so central it was also very peaceful at night and seemed to be just off the beaten track enough to avoid any stag/hen party noise in the early hours of the morning. The rooms are very spacious and clean with amazing high ceilings and big windows. The building has plenty of character with creaky wooden stairs and period furniture. The plumbing in our room made some alarming noises when we turned on the shower and the key to the room required quite a degree of expertise to open the door but it was all part of the experience. The breakfast was outstanding also with lots of choice. A much better option than the usual bland, modern hotels found in many cities.
What a hotel! Excellent location just of the main square with lovely spacious and clean rooms. The staff were lovely and very friendly and the breakfast was also of the highest standard. I would also recommend the Jazz club/bar that is just around the corner as you are walking towards the old town square - it was open till the early hours and even if you don't like Jazz the first room - or outdoor tables - were in a seperate area to the musicians. I would recommend this hotel and can't wait to book up again as Prague is the most magical place!
What a difference a nce hotel makes! The location just could not be bettered - about 100 paces from the Old Town Square. The hotel has charm, character, fantastic staff and best of all, you feel very much at home. Rooms good size, bathroom excellent (both spotless), staff extremely pleasant. Breakfast (very good) in the cafe. Try to get a room overlooking the road - nice to spend an hour before dinner (drink in hand) just watching the world (and endless tourists) go by. Will certainly go there again when next in Prague.
We stayed here for 4 nights in late May. The hotel is in a perfect location in the city center. The main square is a block away. The rooms are huge even by US standards, the bathrooms are spotless and modern. The hotel staff are friendly, helpful, and informative. The buffet breakfast is very good. Although the views from our room were fantastic, there was a great deal of street noise until the wee hours of the morning.
Location was fantastic!! And a small hotel with charm, high ceilings, but keep in mind there are a few steps! Room was ok (we had 4 of us sharing) there was plenty of room, but linen could do with improving as the sheets on one bed were clearly too small. We have just returned from a short break at the Golden Stag. The hotel is absolutely fantastic in every way.The location is perfect only a 2 minute walk from Old Town Square (which we prefered to Wenceslas Square) in a lovely peaceful location. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the jacuzzi bath a real treat! The staff were helpful and the breakfast was fantastic with a selection of fruits cereals cheeses hams etc etc.We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel We travelled with my elderly parents and they could manage the stairs no problems without a lift. All that's left to be said is that we can't wait to go again.
PERFECTLY located off the old town square, clean, quiet, charming. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. And a great price for all of the above! I will say that I was initially surprised by the room... it didn't quite have the look of a typical American hotel room, which is what I'm used to. The bed was kind of low and the bedding concept different. But all very comfortable, and very easy to get used to! The room and bathroom were quite large. I would go back there in a heartbeat, and have recommended it to all my friends considering travelling to Prague.
We stayed at the Golden Stag for three nights in March 2005 and what a wonderful place to stay. Very warm and comfortable room - and spotlessly clean. The breakfast room was a delight to be in. Plenty of choice and excellent service. In fact perhaps the best continental breakfast we have come across. The location of the hotel was perfect. In fact the taxi driver said we couldn't have picked anything better in view of the reasonable price we paid.
We stayed for 4 nights in October. The bedroom and bathroom were both large and spotless. Central location minutes from Old Square so some noise during first night ( Manchester United were in town) but reasonably quiet after that. Excellent buffet breakfast with friendly service. General service crisp and correct efficiency rather than warm. L60 a night for 2 and worth it.
The location of this hotel could not be better, 1 minute from the old town square, yet a quiet location, very spacious rooms with minibar & tv and lovely antique furniture. Very old, beautiful and traditional style of building, with modern bathrooms and very clean rooms. The staff are pleasant and the hotel has a small breakfast room/coffee shop. Breakfast was a good continental selection and plenty of it. If you would like to stay in a simple but lovely place in the centre of prague then this hotel is an absolute must, ideal for a romantic break however I should note that there is no lift.
Just wanted to thank you for our booking at the Golden Stag and answering all our queries so promptly and accurately! It is a great hotel and highly recommended by all our party! Please forward our thanks to the hotel if you can. We will certainly recommend your services to others coming to Prague.
We have now returned from our weekend in Prague and would like to thank you for the efficient booking service you offered. The Golden Stag hotel was great, just 2 minutes from the Old Town Square but still in a quiet location. The transfers to and from the airport also worked like clockwork. Finally our walking tour of Prague with Lenka was a fantastic addition to our weekend. Lenka told us pieces of history which we could not pick up in a guide book and showed us incredible buildings we would have just walked by without a second glance - highly recommended.
Hi Tomas - just to let you know that my daughter and her partner were very pleased indeed with the Golden Stag. They thought the hotel was excellent, and will recommend it to their friends - would you please let the hotel know this. They loved Prague - and in fact they became engaged to be married in the Old Town Square last Wednesday!! Thank you for all your help with the holiday, and I hope to be booking with you myself next year.
Have just returned home after myself, & 6 friends stayed at the Golden Stag in your very beautiful city. I felt I should tell you that the complete trip was a total success, the walking tour very comprehensive & our guide (sorry I don't remember her name) was excellent. The hotel was superb & so brilliantly situated & the staff very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend it & your company to anyone. Once again, many, many thanks & look forward to visiting again.
Just wanted to send a quick email, really to say thank you! Thanks for helping to organise the hotel, and transfers, making it a smooth an efficient way to travel to Prague. The city itself is truly wonderful, with more sites to see, making a 5 day holiday impossible to choose which to visit! I will return to the city at some point, and rest assured, when I do, I will hopefully be calling upon your services once more! Again, many thanks.
